What Drives us

Our Mission

Morningside Baptist Church exists to
glorify God,
grow disciples,
and go into the world with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

We are a body of believers
saved by grace,
rooted in Scripture,
and united in God's purpose:

to love God, love others, and serve with joy.

Our History

Morningside Baptist Church was born from a humble beginning in 1953 when a small group began holding services at Kyle and Frances Swann’s grocery store, the present site of the Ingles store. After meeting at the Swann store for 3 years, Morningside Missionary Baptist Church was organized, with 8 chapter members.

In 1958, the property on Chestnut Avenue was purchased and construction on the auditorium began.

By 1960, it was complete, and the first services on the property were held.

By 1986, phase I of 'Victory Thru Vision' begins, adding a fellowship hall & expanding the auditorium to hold up to 450 members.

In 2011, Phase II is completed - bringing a 7,500 sqft education building to the property. Now home to many of our beloved Sunday School groups.

Our current sanctuary was completed in 2019, during Phase III. This phase added 200 additional seats & other upgrades to the sanctuary allowing us to seat 700.
